Marco Polo- Exploring Paris through Food

The view from Marco Polo

On Monday night, a few of us went to a restaurant called Marco Polo in the 6th arrondissements, near the Odeon metro station. A friend told us it is the Barefoot Contessa’s favorite Italian restaurant in Paris, so we naturally had to check it out. It is also in an area of Paris in which I hadn’t spent much time, so it was fun getting to see a new neighborhood. We sat at a little table on the corner outside the restaurant, and the weather was perfect. There were a few other restaurants on the adjacent corners, so there was plenty of people-watching to do. We even saw a group of about 20-25 rollerbladers whiz by en masse (roller blades and razor scooters are very “in” in Paris). Our food was to die for, as we expected. We had a variety of pastas, both spaghetti and gnocchi, and plenty of bread to go with it. It was certainly the most delicious Italian food I have ever had, and it was a perfect evening exploring a new area of Paris.
