The Many Histories of the Marais

Many remnants remain from the Marais’s former status as a largely Jewish community. Much of the architecture throughout the Marais reflects the area’s former history as a largely aristocratic neighborhood. After falling into disrepair, the gay community within Paris transformed the neighborhood into the popular locale known today.
